Sorry for the delay...we had to use an internet access at another hotel in San Diego.
So, here we is. It's hot and humid in SD. We rented a van and drove down..(Brett, Glenda and I). Miles went to Spokane for his gig with Caroline Drury...he'll be back tonight at midnight...I'll pick him up at SD airport. We recieved our inventory of CD's today..."Another Day" US edition. Glenda and I stickered them for sale at tomorrows concert. Alex Bradley and Joel Wade are coming in today from Tulsa...Michael and Ann Busch will be in tomorrow...so the whole contingent behind the Glenda Rae juggernaut will be here. Should be fun! The instore promotions didn't pan out because of the distributors lack of effort...they have been reprimanded! Maybe we'll find some coffee house to jam at....
Anyways...somebody is waiting to use this terminal...will report back tomorrow morning before the big shew....

OK...we're ready to move on...
Hey folks...we are starting to feel like Pasadena residents. We check out tomorrow, and meander down to San Diego, dropping Miles off at LAX in the process. He gigs in Spokane Friday afternoon, then hops a plane back down to San Diego Friday evening. It's looking more unlikely that we will be doing instore performances in San Diego...it seems the distributor has been less than forthcoming with our label about organizing those events. The label is singularly unimpressed, and may just end up pulling all of their titles from them. In any event, I'll try to find something for Brett, Glenda and I to do on Thursday and/or Friday evening. We will have 200 CD's waiting at the hotel when we get there. I'm thinking we should go to the zoo on Friday...it is right there at Balboa Park.
Back to yesterday and today. Yesterday, Glenda and I went to the Target store here...I heard a rumour that Target had targeted Hudson's Bay Company for acquisition. That may mean the loss of a Canadian institution, but it could help me find pants that fit. I found a clearance rack...and...pants that fit.
We played at the "Holly Street Bar & Grill" last night. There weren't many people there, but they were very appreciative, and somewhat surprised by our presentation. We were guaranteed a gig next time we are in town.
We went back to the hotel and ordered a movie, "Man On Fire" starring Denzel Washington. Superlative performance on Denzel's part, and we also really liked the cinematography. The movie is brutal at times, but believable.
Glenda, Miles and I went to Guitar Centre in Pasadena today to look around. Lots of great gear that we can't afford...why do we do this to ourselves? Then, back to the hotel to continue watching the US Open....I have to check back on Federer/Aggasis. I think I'll check out this jazz band that is playing in town....
Hey, feel free to comment on any entries, or ask any questions about our trip...it would be great to hear from any of you!

Sunday without an entry....
Hey...I slept in. The Sheraton has these really big pillows, and lots of them. Brett and Glenda found their way into a church service in the hotel...Miles, Kevin (soundman), and I went to Sharkey's for lunch. A fast food joint with organic food thats good for you and reasonably priced. Then we went to Best Buy...boy, we sure know how to have a good time! I bought Miles the James Taylor Live DVD...
Monday (today)
Chatted with Michael Busch, head of our label
Emanon Records He's got lots of good, maybe incredible things on the go for us. I can't comment specifically, but I'll fill you in when it is appropriate.
The four of us (Miles, Brett, Glenda, and I) jump the Metro and go to Hollywood. Very strange...I wanted to feel the Hollywood mystique, but I'm middle aged and not starstruck anymore. Still lots of fun non the less. Looked at Graumann's Chinese Theatre and all the handprints...walked down Sunset, and then took the train back to Pasadena. Tomorrow, we rent a van, and get things together for our little show here in Pasadena. Will fill you in on that.

Hollywood aint all it's cracked up to be....
Well what a time we've had.... Yesterday, Sunday September 5th I was wandering around the hotel looking for the computer room with Brett Wade. We heard the most beautiful sound coming from a small room in our hotel - SINGING! Brett and I gingerly opened the door and were welcomed into a small traditional old style black gospel Sunday service. As there were no seats at the back left we went straight to the front row.
A lovely lady, was leading out unaccompanied from the front and we all joined in. I was right at home. I knew all the songs and heartily joined in. All of a sudden on my left side I felt a familiar presence, and another of our ROS crew had heard the same music and joined us. We sang and sang. Then the choir was asked to sing. The choir was comprised of 5/6ths of the congregation. They sang with passion and I was truly refreshed. Next, the assistant pastor just in from university in Seattle began to preach. Did he preach!
After the service we exchanged hugs and emails and our goodbyes and went on to a lovely lunch compliments of Margarita Joe's.
Today Monday Miles Tony Brett and Myself decided to take the public transit all the way from Pasadena to North Hollywood - "HOLLYWOOD AND VINE". It is definitely not like in the movies. The sex trade is the biggest thing in retail all along Hollywood Blvd. Oh well another little bit of romanticism dashed. All in all it was a great day - a change in scenery and I'm now ready for a great night's rest.

50 things to do in Pasadena...
Well, guess what...we got ourselves a gig in Pasadena on Tuesday night. It's at the Holly Street Bar & Grill (175 E. Holly St, in Old Pasadena). If anybody monitoring this blog is living in the LA area, or you know someone who does, it is a unique opportunity to catch Glenda and the rest of us. We will be playing from 7 until 10...
We had lunch with Brett Hill, the co-ordinator of the ROS show here. He and his wife are great people...the show was not particularly well attended, but very well recieved and covered by LA media. He knew that Pasadena would be the sacrificial lamb for the ROS tour, but it generated what it had to...and that is good will and great press.
I'm going to make a poster and go to bed...

Ho hum...another Saturday in Pasadena...
Well I'll tell ya...breakfast on the sidewalk (they threw me out of the restaurant and I had to eat on the sidewalk) ok..just kidding!
Glenda and I were told to go to a diner called Coco's for our complimentary breakfast...no free breakfast, and no compliments were found. So we ate at this styling Italian bistro poser palace instead. We called Sam (Masich) on the cellphone to pose long distance. He started yakking like he was already living in California...(guess the 24th floor of the Mondrian is like that...)
After our styling breakfast, we cruised a pawnshop...we sure know how to have a good time!
Now we are back at the hotel, inputting this. Kevin the front of house sound technician just wandered in...he sez hi. He's hilarious!
Well tata for now...

First show Down one more to go....
What an amazing trip we've had so far....great friends and comrades. The first of the two scheduled ROS shows is now over. Everything went surprizingly smooth. The response to our original music was quite touching.
I feel like this is a new beginning in my career! There's much more to come, and still soo much undiscovered.
It's now 1:43 AM and after much talking, listening, eating and most of all singing it's time for a small bit of rest.

Great bed...great shower!
We (Glenda, Miles, Brett, Rene and myself) went for a joyride last night in the Jaguar...which has AWD. We tooled down Sunset Blvd, popped in to the Mondrian for a look see...Rene commented that we were so unhip we were hip...I thought we were thoroughly unhip! This place was called the SkyBar..with an incredible view of downtown LA. Lots of posers here...but hey, this is Sunset Blvd.! We went for dinner at this great sushi joint in old Pasadena....
Our rehearsal call is at 1:00 this afternoon. Will report back later on how that goes, and our first look at this storied auditorium in Pasadena.

Just putting this entry in from the Pasadena Sheraton...
Plane flight was uneventful. We got picked up in this stretch limo. I wasn't allowed to touch the bar....
Weather is kind of hazy and muggy...the perfect L.A. afternoon I guess. Miles, Rene, Brett, Glenda and I are going to take a cruise in this Jag that Rene rented. Rehearsal is tomorrow at 3 PM.
Will report back later....
